New York project update

Hi there, Doug again: Remember the office space in New York we designed? We shared some early construction photos back in March after framing was completed. Paige and I visited the space earlier this week to do a walk through and create a preliminary punch-list of outstanding items to be completed before the contractor turns the space over to our client. The space is looking really great–very cool and sophisticated!

We’re creating the space for Core, a real estate sales and marketing group that’s involved in some of New York’s most exclusive properties. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Core is one of the real estate companies featured on the HGTV show Selling New York. It’s been really exciting working with the team at Core to create this space for their executive staff. Maybe the space will make an appearance in next season’s episodes?

Although the space is primarily modern–we thought it important to introduce some cozier texture to balance all of the butt-jointed glass and crisp white enameled surfaces. Beautiful bleached oak floors, charcoal grey and brown carpet, and white tile accented with thick grey grout joints keep the space from feeling too cold.

Our clients' signature color--red--makes an appearance in the coffee bar back splash

A wall of built-in shelving provides lots of room for storage and display in the CEO's office

This barn door is covered in white board paint! When closed it gives privacy to the CEO's office, but it also provides a great spot for collaboration within the office.

Tracery comes to NYC

Hey everyone, Doug here…blogging to you from high above the Meatpacking District at the Standard Hotel in New York.  I’m sitting here looking out the window at the Empire State Building reflecting on what a great visit we’ve had (I’m eating some late night Oreos from the minibar too!).  We are so excited to be working with an incredible client on a super chic office space on Fifth Avenue, in the heart of New York’s Midtown.  We can’t wait to show you the finished product…coming later this spring; but for now here are a few pics of the space, newly framed up and ready for sheet rock.

The views out of this space are AMAZING…we’re collaborating with Louis Nequette of Dungan Nequette Architects to create a space that’s light and bright and full of glass that allows everyone in the space to capture and enjoy what’s beyond the windows of this breathtaking 17th floor space.  The next time we show you pictures, this space will look MUCH different…fumed oak floors, crisp white paint on the walls and exposed ceiling and butt-jointed glass panels at the perimeter offices will all come together to create a space that’s slick and sharp and perfectly suited to the fast paced and innovative company that will call this place home.

New York always inspires us…there’s so much great design around every corner!  Tomorrow we’ll be sharing some images of things we saw during our trip that we found particularly inspiring so check back then for more.
