Shopping in New Orleans

Hi all!! I spent the last couple days in New Orleans. I love the city and we try to take a trip over to NOLA at least once a year. We went shopping on Magazine Street. A few stores I loved were Perch, Source, and Piranesi. There are so many great shops! I also had a chance to stop by the gallery of Mallory Page, an artist that is featured at both Tracery shop locations. And last but not least the food… Herbsaint, Mondo, Parasol’s, Port of Call…. Yum… It was so good. Here are a few pictures from the trip. Have a great weekend!

pretty pillows

If you’ve ever visited our Mountain Brook store, you might have noticed the beautiful collection of hand painted pillows by Oxford & Company that we carry.  Oxford & Company is the creation of our friend Rachel, who’s helped us on many of our projects–sewing, styling, creating floral arrangements and just about anything else!  Rachel hand-stencils yards of beautiful linen fabric and then sews these wonderful pillows.  Don’t they look great sitting on this beautiful antique French settee we just received?

We don’t have the pillows posted in our online store, but they are available for purchase through our Mountain Brook shop.  They retail for $250 each and come in a variety of colors in addition to the blue and charcoal colorways featured here.  Call us for more info at (205) 414-6026 or email shopmb [at] traceryinteriors [dot] com

monday morning punch of color

Hi y’all, Bess here to help you battle those Monday Morning Blues. Our wonderful Schumacher Rep, Cecily, stopped in last week with the latest Indoor/Outdoor line from Trina Turk and it is fun! With each turn of the fabric it was like a ‘Wam! Bam!’ pop of color. I envision bold outdoor drapes framing a clean white porch or even an unexpected ‘Bam!’ on a living room sofa.

These exciting new prints and color ways really help me think warm, warm, warm thoughts since I’m in chilly Michigan for an install this week! Eek!

Happy Monday!

[celebrate] house beautiful ‘pink’ party

This past Wednesday night both our Rosemary Beach and Mountain Brook locations put out pretty pink flowers and cold beverages to enjoy time with some of our favorite clients, vendors and biggest supporters. We were so excited to celebrate Paige & Doug’s spread in House Beautiful this past month. Thanks again for all of your support & if you were unable  to join us then enjoy a few photos from both locations that evening!

Thanks again to everyone that joined us to celebrate. Hope you have a great weekend!

[travel] Bess goes to Savannah

Hi y’all, I was lucky enough to be in Savannah, Georgia last weekend basking in the glorious weather and all of the city’s  Southern splendor. Seeing as I only had Saturday to enjoy the sites I tried to cover all of the typical ‘tourist basics’ in a very small amount of time. I passed a million little boutiques & galleries I would have loved to of had the time to stop in and enjoy. I hope to be going back in a few months so please leave suggestions for my next visit!

Driving down Abercorn on my arrival was magnificent. To me that drive exemplifies ‘Old South’ with all of the live oaks dripping in moss hovering overhead and the grand historical homes with their column-framed entries inviting you to have a seat and enjoy a glass of sweet tea. My college years were spent about an hour inland from Savannah and I have always been in awe of the city.

Of course we meandered through a few squares, strolled down River Street and then made our way back down Bay Street. The weather could not have been better for a day like this.

As we shopped downtown I was able to visit a few great boutiques, like The Paris Market. They are like a kindred spirit of Tracery’s- the perfect mix of old and new. So many inspirational vignettes throughout their space and millions of little trinkets I could have easily brought home.

DC2 Designs was another fun find. They seemed to take a little more of a ‘glam’ approach to the mixing of old & new. I loved the pinky coral wall above. Such a great color for a little girls room or maybe a small powder bath even? They also had a surprisingly fun selection of hats in the back and I ended up walking out with the one pictured below!

We hopped in & out of a few other shops, met the gentle giant of the ‘shop dog’ world and topped it all of with an amazing meal at Jazz’d Tapas Bar. Their Chocolate Torte is a must!

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of Savannah through my trip. It made me so hungry for Spring with all of the sunshine and chirping birds! I sure hope Puxatony Phil was right…
