Southern Living.

Hi Paige here!  So if you follow our blog you know we are working on the 2012 Southern Living Idea House which will open to the public for tours in June and will appear in the August issue.  As a southern farm girl it is an honor for us to work on a home for Southern Living.  We have had requests to see our inspiration for this 1830’s farmhouse renovation/addition.  Here are a few inspiration photos we pulled for the home.  Everyone needs a little inspiration when beginning a project… right?  Check ours out…. we all found these images from different places…. enyoy!

Then in other Southern Living news…. my friend (and a Tracery client) Stephanie Nichols is featured in the March Issue of Southern Living.  Stephanie is an amazing clothing designer.  Stephanie and I hit it off instantly… maybe because we are both south Alabama farm girls, maybe because we both love design and all things beautiful, or maybe because we both love a happy hour mani/pedi (this is our favorite get together).    She has the shop www.shopwithdejavu.com and the clothing line Judith March.  She is all around an amazing designer and mom.   Check out her blog here.  Check out her designs here… you won’t regret it.  Stephanie recently designed a custom dress for me… I LOVE it!  (I actually wore it to the idea house meeting at Southern Living that Doug and I went to 2 weeks ago).  So pick up a copy of Southern Living and read a little more about Stephanie.

happy {almost} weekend

Hi Everyone-Bess here to leave you with a few photos to lead you into the weekend! I’ve recently picked up a project near New Orleans, LA. and was lucky to hop over to that area early last week for what made a very quick trip. It’s nice to get out of town every now & then to soak up a little inspiration-hope these photos bring a little of that inspiration to you as well!

Stanley is a must for Breakfast if you find yourself near by!

pink at the beach

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  We just received copies of some gorgeous photos our friend Jean Allsopp took last year for the book she co-produced with Lynn Nesmith, 30A Style.  Featured in the book was a house we designed in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida–near our Rosemary Beach shop and studio.  The Master Bedroom features a healthy dose of hot pink and we thought today of all days would be the perfect time to share the room with you!

In this same home, the Girl’s Room also features fun hot pink accents.  In her adjacent Bathroom, hot pink stripes on the horizontal planking add a really fun and unexpectedly dose of color to the room.

Here’s hoping your day is fun and colorful and full of lots of love.  Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at Tracery!

The position begins in mid to late May and runs through August (when school begins).

And for a little Monday feel good. Here are a few things that we have seen lately that we are using in our designs or that we just think is cool.

Our Five Favorite Things {Paige & Pinterest}

Saving the best for last we bring you our principal designer, Paige Schnell’s five favorite things. Hope everyone has enjoyed a peek at some of our most guilty pleasures in life and reminded you to enjoy your’s a little more!

{ Paige }

1. A stack of design magazines & a beach chair. Photo by Lynn Nesmith. 30AStyleBook.com

2. Sunsets at Bud & Alley's. Watching sunset is a tradition of many locals here on 30A & it's one I love.

3. I may have a slight problem. I love scarves. These are just a few I have. Some are new & some are vintage. I love adding these to simple pieces like a white shirt & jeans.

4. Barbara Cosgrove Lam Shades. For a small up charge the shades can be painted any color from Benjamin Moore. This image is from the 2012 Southern Living Idea House where we used them in orange.

4. {continued} In Mountain Brook, Alabama we used subtle grays & whites throughout the home. The custom muted gray lamp shades in the foyer were the perfect touch.

5. Our family dog Lucy. I love at the end of the day walking in the door to her wagging tail. She is always happy to see me. She loves to go on walks through Seagrove Beach & Seaside. We rescued her almost 4 years ago & now we couldnt imagine her not being around.

This year we ALL have one ‘favorite thing’ in common: Pinterest! Feel free to use the links below to keep an eye on Tracery Interiors as well as all of us on our most guilty of pleasures….

Tangerine

The 2012 Pantone color of the year is Tangerine.  Click {here} to find out more.  I love to read about the color of the year then see it show it in fashion and home decor.  Sometimes the color of the year is not my favorite color but this year we were excited!  We are working on a project right now with Tangerine in the living space.

We love the Kelly Werstler fabric Trellis by Schumacher…. don’t you?  This is our first time using it in the “tangerine” color.

In the same room we are using this tangerine stripe (these fabrics with be mixed with linen and white)

The home in Alys Beach will be finished in about a month.  We will show you the finished product after the install!

Here is another tangerine pallette that is pretty… not for any particular project.  It is just a nice start to a room.

All of this makes me want a tangerine swimsuit for the beach… maybe while I am wearing it I can drink a drink that fits the color….

Doesn’t this color just make you smile?

Happy Monday!

Paige
