Check out these cool new pillows we received yesterday — they are headed to a Sales Center space for a new loft development in Birmingham, but we wanted you to see them first. Made from coffee bean bags, the pillows are burlap with striped cotton duck fabric on the reverse. We think they are a great blend of crunchy texture, graphic style and just a little bit of whimsy; perfect for the space we are creating! We’ll be sure to post pictures from the move in next week.
Our very own Anna Kay Porch is featured on 30a.com today! Check out AK’s 30A themed pumpkin she carved with some friends last night…
Faux Bois is a design trend that has been showing up in magazines a lot lately. Faux Bois is literally French for ‘fake wood.’ The trend is not just restricted to print media either. Check out these cool vases we have in our shop currently [above and below].
Looks like we will have our hands tied on the day of with little ghosts & goblins. We wanted to make sure we had a chance to wish you all a happy & safe Halloween!
Doug traveled to Lake Martin on Saturday afternoon to help prepare one of our projects for a weekend reception. He took a few photos while he was there and of course we want to share them with you! We completed this house mid-Summer of this year and have been working on finishing touches ever since. You may recall seeing some empty house photos of this home [here] and some photos from the install [here]. Paige and Anna Kay have worked for a couple of years now planning, designing and finally procuring and installing every detail and item in this home and the results are stunning.
Located on Lake Martin near Alexander City, Alabama this home is a beautiful retreat for a large family who wanted lots of room to relax and spend time together. Paige and Anna Kay crafted a soothing palette of white, linen and pale blue which contrasts in a very sophisticated way with the rough timber and stone elements that reference the home’s exterior. Massive walls of windows invite the panoramic views of the Lake inside.
Furnished with a collection of new upholstered pieces and French and Italian antiques, elements like raw wood, white ironstone, polished nickel and galvanized metal are repeated throughout the main portion of the home.
Paige worked one on one with the home’s builder to perfect the curving staircase wall.
We’ll be posting photos of the home’s kitchen and a few of the bedrooms later this week, check back for more.
Enjoy a few little treasures from our Rosemary Beach shop [850.231.6755].
We are gearing up for Rosemary Beach’s annual Halloween festivities next week and definitely had a little ‘Martha’ inspiration this year. A little spray paint & glitter can go a long way! Bess selected a variety of pumpkins and gourds from Lowes & a local pumpkin patch then headed to Home Depot for the best spray paint selection in town. After settling on a hammered metal gold, mint green and the perfect grey it was time to get to work. Word to the wise: gloves are a great investment when spray painting small items that you might be holding, trust us on this one. Bess spray painted each pumpkin solid and simply sprinkled the glitter on the wet spray paint. This project really requires no craft skills, just a tolerance for spray paint fumes. For the large grey & gold pumpkin she let Elmer’s old school White Glue drip down the sides & sprinkled glitter on the drips. The small gourds/squash/things get their metallic sheen from the gold spray glitter applied to dried spray paint (spray glitter in the craft section at Wal-Mart). Let everything dry very well & Ta Da! Eat your heart out Martha Stewart…
