Don’t feel blue when you can’t find the perfect shade of blue anymore!  Our [tracery tips] series is back today and we’re sharing our favorites with you:

Need a great soft shade of blue?  Try Woodlawn Blue, #HC-147 from Benjamin Moore.  Tracery owner Paige Schnell, has her own bedroom painted this color but used one of our favorite tricks of the trade–percentage.  Paige’s bedroom is Woodlawn Blue at 50% intensity.  Full strength or not, the color is very subtle and soft which is why we love it.

Robins Egg Blue is a great classic shade of blue.  Our favorite way to achieve that color is to use Palladian Blue,  #HC-144 from Benjamin Moore.   It looks great inside or out.

Looking for a classic blue?–Try Dusk by Restoration Hardware.  If you could wear this blue it would look great with pearls!

Another classic shade of blue is Hale Navy,  #HC-154 from Benjamin Moore.  We are waiting for the perfect project where we can paint a small space in this color from top to bottom — or better yet lacquer an entire room like a bedroom or library!  How cool would that be?

Ocean Air,  #2123-50 from Benjamin Moore looks just like its name–just like the sky on a beautiful day at the beach.  What more could you ask for?

Another color inspired by nature is Summer Shower, #2135-60.  It is soft and fresh just like the name suggests.

Blue doesn’t have to feel traditional and airy.  A grey blue color can feel very cool yet contemporary.  Our favorite grey blue is Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore, #HC-165.

Our next [tracery tips] regarding paint colors will cover our favorite greens… stay tuned!

I love blue – it’s funny to think that a few years ago when I was looking for blue fabrics for my headboard, I had a hard time as blue was somewhat ‘out’! Or, maybe it is just that I had a specific shade of blue in mind, and blue has such an infinite variety of shades.

Love all of these blues! I have Woodlawn blue in my daughter’s playroom and Hale Navy is my current front door colour. Great minds think alike!

Great colors, great post! Eight years ago I painted my son’s room Hale Navy with white trim and bamboo shades. Always fresh, the perfect little boy blue room as it really grows with them. Throw some John Robshaw with it… fantastic!
