  1. We went to the beach, of course! We rented a smaller house and really got to know our family better. Love the Tracery goodies!

  2. My favorite vacation this summer has been heading to Pensacola for my little sisters wedding. I live in Chicago now, so I don’t get to Florida often. It was great to see old friends, out of town family, and soak up the time with my family, all the while celebrating my sister!

  3. By far, our favorite vacation was in your neck of the woods: Rosemary Beach. Our 16 year old daughter and her 2 BFF’s had more freedom with riding their bikes in a safe and family friendly community. Riding a catamaran, the bikes, movie night and giving us as parents a peace of mind to let them venture on their own made it a great vacation for them. Which made it a great vacation for us.

  4. My favorite summer vacation this year was a trip to the beach for a weekend getaway. My husband and I had all three kids on the beach including our youngest 2 year old. It was a beautiful sunny day and all 3 kids just enjoyed themselves playing on the beach – it was picture perfect. In fact the oldest laid down at the waters edge which was then followed by the second and third and we got the most perfect organic picture. It was like all the “puffy white clouds” aligned 🙂 wish I could attach it – priceless.

  5. We stayed home and decided to enjoy what we have….pool in backyard, nice house, and beach 15 min down the road. Why hassle with driving/flying/hotels when you can appreciate what you already have! It was soooo enjoyable too!

  6. Our favorite family vacations are those that we spend at the beach. Watching our two boys play in the ocean, hunt for shells, and building sandcastles is the best! And, the beach is the perfect place for family photos which I have displayed all around our home. Rosemary Beach looks lovely, what a nice place to have your shop.

  7. This past summer we came down to the beach from Kentucky. On the way back home half of our family was driving back when we got a call from my parents that their rental car key (they flew down and met us) was in the floorboard of the car we were in. This would not have been a big deal but we were 4.5 hours from home and 4.5 hours from the beach. In order to make sure that my parents could fly home and not have to have an excess expenses ($300 minimum for lost key+tow truck to retrieve the car) we had to drive all the way back. The whole time we were driving back, I just kept repeating that “we are making memories! we will forever laugh about this.” What seemed to be an unending drive turned into great quality time chatting with one another!

  9. we went to Pei, Canada – the gentle province and the nicest people in the world. Time goes by at a different rate there. I was lucky enough to take an art course with Mike Svob. My daughter and husband came along and they played golf. The weather was perfect. This was one of the nicest vacations I have ever had. Art beach and family – it doesn’t get better than this

  10. As much as I love the beach, we headed North this summer to hike Mt. Washington. It’s a 4 hour hike and the temperature dropped close to 25 degrees as we reached the summit… it’s invigorating!

  11. Usually my favorite summer getaway comes in September when we head to Rosemary Beach but with my husband’s new job we may not make that trip this year. I had a great Girl’s Weekend with 8 good friends. We were at the Waldorf Astoria in Orlando- lounging by the pool, shopping, eating at great restaurants and enjoying fabulous spa services with no one demanding milk or a snack or anything else. A few days of heavenly relaxation!!

  16. My husband and our three boys, ages 16, 14 and 11, headed to Alaska in June. We started our vaca in Anchorage, where we enjoyed unseasonbly warm weather. We hiked near glaciers and played in icy cold waters, while watching a mother bear and her cub run across the tree line, almost a mile away. We encountered a Moose on our hike and a “city Moose” right in town, grazing along the highway!. During the next leg of our trip, we drove down the Keni pensula to Homer. Along the beautiful 4hr drive, we saw streams lined with fisherman, waiting to catch the spring Salmon on one side of the road and the tips of distant volcanoes peaking over the Cook inlet on the other. In Homer, the air was much cooler but the views were incredible. We chartered a fishing boat down on the spit and caught our limit of Halibut. We are still enjoying that delicious fish! This was truely one of our fav vacas of all time.

  19. Who would have thought that an overnight trip to Greenwood, MS would top the list of summer trips (especially, when the other trips involved sea, sand, mountains and mojitas). But let me be the first to tell you that a trip to a small, Southern town in the Delta with five fun-loving friends formally named “The Cooking Crew” was an unexpected surprise. The Viking Cooking School was exceptionally fun and staying across the street at The Alluvian was a treat. But the tour of all the homes used in the filming of “The Help” was the absolute highlight. Only in the South will folks welcome complete strangers onto the porches of their homes so that a bunch of ladies can pose and say, “This is Skeeter’s house!”

    • Usually I would say Rosemary Beach (where we usually go every summer) but this summer we didn’t make it there 😦 I’m guessing that my favorite trip is going to be the one that we have coming up in Rhode Island. Never been!

What is more fun than singing with Carrie and Taylor and Tim and Luke and Blake and Miranda…. and on and on and on? 4 nights in a row of wonderful country music….truly a little piece of AMERICANA. 🙂 Not to mention sharing it all with my husband and son!!! Truly a wonderful summer vacation!!

  24. My family and I have been fortunate enough to enjoy lovely vacations that have taken us to many special places. However, this summer has been a little different as our two older daughters are now off at college (yes, even in the summer they take classes!). So my youngest son, age 10, and I (sometimes his dad joins us when he’s was not off working) took off in the car and have been visiting golf course all over the southeast. I have had an amazing time with my son visiting some of the most beautiful little towns along the way. I especially loved the impromptu stops at soda shops, antique stores, and anything else that suited our fancy. It has given us the opportunity to discover new things and to take the time to smell the flowers along the way. I have so many special memories of this summer and it was unexpectedly wonderful.

  25. Our best vacation was this summer in Winter Park Colorado. We visited Rocky Mountain National Park which was spectacular. We hiked and climbed and experienced beauty all around. We saw elk, mule deer, moose and mountain goats!

We went white water rafting on the Colorado river which was thrilling and beautiful at the same time.

Other activities we enjoyed were horseback riding, skateboarding and alpine sledding in trestle park.

I highly recommend getting a Rocky Mountain High in Colorado.

  26. Our official family vacation has just started this morning so I can’t share a traditional vacation experience yet
Though school ended long ago in May we have been busy with camps, waking up early and driving all over Georgia for
Travel baseball and trying to keep the house tidy and fridge full with 3 teenagers in the midst of summer.
I do keep thinking how these kids will be off to college soon and come home less as they enjoy their driving independence.
I realized that days with out the regular schedule, the walks at dusk in your neighborhood, and late bedtimes are some of the best vacation perks there are.
Wen we return next week from our real vacation I might let you know differently.

  27. Well, my favorite summer vacation this year was our trip a week ago to Rosemary Beach. We stayed in a beautiful house, and our whole family was there. Even though it rained most every day, we still loved going to the beach and the pool. And, we even went to the Tracery, which was a challenge with 3 little ones, which is why we didn’t really get to look at everything there like we wanted too! We spent our shopping time in Gigi’s and the Sugar Shak, instead, much to the chagrin of our adult party! Thanks for the opportunity to take a little of the Tracery home at last!

  30. That would definitely be Richmond, VA for my cousin’s wedding in June. I had never been there before and absolutely LOVED seeing the gorgeous historical architecture and beautiful landscaping. The wedding reception was at the magnificant Jefferson Hotel, which was built in 1895. I also enjoyed eating at some neat restaurants and strolling down the mile long street of Carytown’s eclectic shops. I wish I could’ve stayed longer to explore more of Richmond, but hope to go back one day!
