The coolest Christmas gift I ever received as a child was a Farrah fawcett head. I could style her hair and do her makeup. I was 5 at the time and thought she hung the moon! I played with it for years . . . until I realized what I really wanted was for ME to look more like her, not to make HER look more like me!

My coolest Christmas gift was a purple GT Performer I received when I was about 10. It was at the height of the BMX craze in the 80s. I loved it because purple was my favorite color, but what made it really cool was that it was a better bike than most of the boys in my neighborhood who were really into BMX and freestyle had! They were so jealous of my purple ride! š

I think that my favorite strange gift was a chemistry set. I played with that set until the chemicals were gone. Surprised I didn’t blow the house up, because it had real chemicals in it. Maybe this was the beginning of my first degree!

The coolest gift I got as a child was a cassette recorder. I used it to record my deepest thoughts(as deep as a 10yr.old could have). I replayed them years later when I reached my 20s. I don’t know what happened to those tapes but they were hilarious.

Would have to be a barbie doll with handmade barbie doll clothes…very intricately made, even bra and panties, evening gown etc. The lady that made these was a friend of my Mom’s. I still have them and will always treasure them and I am now in my 50’s!

My grandfather made me a doll house for christmas one year. I played with it for many years to follow. I loved decorating and redecorating it over and over. It even had its very own christmas decorations each year! This may have helped start my career in design!

my favorite gift was a madame alexander doll that i named emily. she had pudgy round cheeks & short brown hair.20 something years later i had our third daughter, that i named emily. she is 15 and still has round cheeks & had short brown hair for years

My parents gave me a gold id bracelet. It was so dainty and feminine when most others were chunky,silver and almost dog collar like. I loved it! It was so unexpected and such a sweet and loving gift from my parents.

One year my parents gave me a custom built play house! Made of PVC pipe with a “house” slipcover. It had my name on the door, a mailbox, planters, windows, the whole nine yards…. I can’t wait to have one made for my son!

Oh it was the early, early 70s and I was in LOVE with Donny Osmond! I was so excited when I got a Donny Osmond record to play on my new record player. It was all captured on a home movie (back then reel to reel) with no sound, of course! LOL When we watched old movies, everyone thought that the camera was put on fast speed – – but noooo, it was me jumping up and down and acting like a fool in fast motion all without the help of camera tricks. That was the best present ever!

My favorite gift was a bicycle, unfortunately I found it in the closet a few days before Christmas. I didn’t want to ruin the surprise so I kept quiet. Just about killed me, to this day I do not want to know what my presents are.

A “fur”coat when I was 9. Looking back it was a tan plaid wool coat with a faux fur collar. Good thing because I wouldn’t want a real fur coat now.

I still own the coolest gift ever received! A little red rocker that was given to me by my grandfather when I was very young, only to have both my girls enjoy it during through younger years. It is still with us today, although in storage, and hopefully I’ll be able to hand it down to my future grandchildren. A gift that has withstanded the test of time!

Mine was a wonderful floppy doll, a baby I could feed and cuddle, for years I waited for her then when i was about 10 she came. Mimi I also still have my Barbie from the early 60’s and the handmade clothes my Mum made for her, she came with 2 very special Barbie outfits too.I too am in my fifties and still love them

The best gift I received was a cardboard playhouse (I was 8). It had a pretend window and door. I had spent hours decorating the inside. The entire winter it was played with and stored in our basement. The first warm day, I played with it outside. That night it rained and the next morning, it was an unrecognizable heap of cardboard. I still have fond memories of it.

It was Christmas, 1955. Hands down, a tin, two-story dollhouse with molded plastic furniture! The outside was painted with stone and wood siding. It even had a tiny front walkway that led to the tiny front door. Turn it around and you could reach into every room. The kitchen had gray and white floor tile and all the other rooms had wood (tin) floors with painted area rugs.
It didn’t come with people, so I would walk my fingers around the rooms and try to “sit” on the chairs.
It was my dream house! Thank you, Mom and Dad.

One Christmas I knew it was a finiancially difficult time for my parents and they told us that we would not be having a “big” Christmas. We did not even get a tree that year until Christmas eve when they surprised us by brining home a free one. The bigger surprise was the next morning waking to find a big trampoline in our back yard. Being a gymnast, this was the best! I jumped so long that my legs and the ground wobbled whenever I got off for days.

Love this giveaway!!!!! The coolest gift (my favorite gift) was a pair of pierced earrings in sixth grade. I had been begging my parents to get my ears pierced for some time and they always said no. That Christmas, I opened a box with the earrings in it. It took me a second and then I realized they were finally letting me get my ears pierced.

The gift that I remember the most was a white corduroy robe with light blue monogram that my mother made all by hand. Maybe after 70 years, this is one of the reasons that blue is still my favorite color.

The coolest gift that I received as a child was a dollhouse that my Mom and Dad spent hours upon hours constructing and building the tiny furniture. My parents hung on to it and a couple of years ago my husband and I refurbished it for our daughter’s Christmas gift. We will hold on to it for her to hopefully pass down to her daughter one day.

It was the mid 1970s. America was in a recession, and my dad, who was a surveyor, was laid off. My mom, who was a nurse but had not worked since having kids, went back to school to take a refresher course. Dad became Mr. Mom for a time. Looking back now, money must have been real tight, especially with four kids in the family. But, my parents made a big deal about “crafty Christmas”, saying it was more special to make things for others than buy them. We all worked together making “ecology boxes” for family and friends – Dad cut, stained and assembled the wood framed boxes in his workshop and Mom and us kids collected pine cones and acorns, counted out elbow macaroni and dried grains, and blew the yolk out of eggshells through little pin holes. We’d hear Dad down in the workshop every night and I can remember thinking that he must be making a lot of ecology boxes! But, on Christmas morning, his true labor was revealed. My dad had made a miniature workbench for my brother and a play kitchen for my sisters and me. The kitchen was so special and unlike any you could buy. It had a window with real red gingham curtains that my mom had whipped up. It had a backsplash with a wallpaper border. And, the showstopper? It had avocado green appliances just like in our real kitchen. Crafty Christmas? Best ever.

The coolest thing I rec’d as a child was a blossom hat. Even though it was a small inexpensive gift, I thought I was something else! I wore that hat everywhere. Looking back on it now & having the pictures to prove it… It wasn’t as fierce as I once thought, but I loved it! Ha!

Anyone remember Adoption Dolls? They pre-dated Cabbage Patch Kids and you had to go to the hospital in North Georgia to get one. At that age, I wanted more than anything to have red hair. I loved (honestly, still love) red hair. I asked for an adoption doll with red hair, and was warned that they really didn’t make them with red hair. I pouted, and insisted that mine should have red hair and green eyes. Lily Imelda (they came named) was the very rare redhead!

Would love to win this! Funny, I don’t have many memories of receiving gifts when I was a kid (a long time ago!) I do remember getting Super Slider Snow Skates which were these plastic things that you put under your boots and you slide down hills without poles or anything – not very safe!

The best gift I got was a huge trampoline in our backyard. My brother and I ran down there with my mom to try it out and on the first bounce, he flew off of it and landed on the ground. Since he was not hurt we decided to not tell dad….or it would have been hauled off that day. Our little secret.

Beautiful necklace! Have to say my most favorite Christmas gift was a signed note from Santa, which I still have. You know when you reach a certain age you start asking a lot of questions, so me being the ever determined detective, I decided to write Santa a sweet little note and ever so slightly drew a line at the bottom of the note with these words written underneath it, “PLEASE SIGN HERE”!

Growing up in Michigan in the late 70s/early 80s and barely middle class (although I didn’t know it), I know my parents did their best to give their two daughters what they wanted, but I don’t remember too many specific Christmas gifts. What I do remember is that every Christmas our parents would give us each one big gift (and some stocking stuffers) and then $100 to donate to a charity that we got to choose. So while I don’t remember the specific “cool toy,” I do remember what is for sure the coolest gift of all – giving to others.

A baby doll bed that my great grandfather made for me. It was painted white and it had a purple cloth “mattress” that my great grandmother made to go on the inside for the baby doll to lay on. I remember it had a brand new doll inside of it. This year I painted it Elephant Pink and gave it to my daughter for her third birthday. I still love that baby doll bed!

I love the wooden stilts that I got when I was 7. I recently found them when my parents moved and we are giving them to our 7 year old daughter for Christmas! I can’t wait to teach her how to use them!!

I’m 57 and still have the pink stuffed rabbit, Bun Bun , that my dad gave me when I was 5. It has been with me all these years…camp,college,marriage. Bun Bun is in my bedroom right now, much older and rougher looking. But it was from my dad. I saw him get it out of his trunk and put it out for me and from a very undemonstrative man, it meant the world to a little girl.

My mother walked all the way to car so that I wouldn’t know that I was getting a fish tank. We fill it with all kinds of fish and I would watch them for hours. Merry Christmas. cc

My first pair of white roller skates so I didn’t have to rent skates at the skating rink any longer. My sister and I went skating on Christmas night so we could try them out. Not to mention I used some of my Christmas money to buy as many pairs I could afford of pompoms to tie on the toes of the skates. We were over the moon with excitement! Of course that was during the 70’s but it might be fun to see if we could even still skate after all those years or if we would look as cool today with our white skates and pompoms as we thought we did back then. Ahh….that brings back so many great memories. Thanks for suggesting such a fun post for Day 5 giveaway!

A giant white bear that I cuddled with on the floor. It was flat enough that you could take naps on it and soft enough to squeeze. I was young enough that I didn’t ask for anything and Christmas was very magical.
