farmhouse

Hey, it’s Doug…Hannon and I have started a new project and we are really excited about it! It’s a new house that’s just started construction. The house is located in Shelby County, Alabama just a few miles south of our studio in Mountain Brook. The family who will live here is moving to Birmingham from Texas and came to us through this very blog (we love when that happens!).

The piece of property where the house is located is SO beautiful! We’ve had a really gorgeous fall here in Birmingham and the colors of the trees all around the house were absolutely amazing when Hannon and I made our first visit to the site a couple of weeks ago.

Right now, the house looks like this…

But eventually, it will look like this…

The family hired a local home designer to draw up plans for the house and now we’re busy tweaking details here and there to help create their vision of a classic farmhouse style home. Outside, white painted siding, trim and windows will be accented by classic black shutters and a galvanized metal roof. Inside we have white painted wood walls, warm white oak floors with a weathered finish, and lots of crisp white tile and honed soapstone planned…this house is going to be amazing and we can’t wait to share the details with you along the way.

Until then, hope you enjoyed a little sneak peek. Happy Friday!

  1. WOW – that photo makes me miss Alabama! I lived in Birmingham for 3 years (went to Cumberland Law) and loved it. I’ve followed your blog as a stalker for a while – love your work and can’t wait to see more about this new project.
