Or “Apalach” as the locals call it is a fun weekend getaway. Yesterday was our anniversary and with our crazy lives lately we had not made any plans for the weekend. So…. yesterday when we woke up my husband, Mark, suggested a one night getaway to Apalachicola. I love the town. The cute dowtown with shops, restaurants, b&b’s, oysters(I love oysters) and great architecture makes it the perfect 24 hour escape. Put the two of us together in a place like that and our architecture school nerdiness comes out in full force. We are discussing details in the buildings, streetscape, what makes a good storefront, and how we would renovate the turn of the century homes. We are snapping photos and just having a great time discussing architecture and design. We are currently headed back home (don’t worry mom and Anne I am not driving and blogging) and thought I would share a few photos I snapped on my iPhone while in Apalachicola.
We stayed the night at the Gibson Inn. Which is a classic inn downtown. It supposedly has ghosts(just ask my friend Rebecca about Sunshine) but we did not have any encounters. It was a nice quiet room in the middle of town which is exactly what we needed.
Happy Anniversary Mark!
