Hi y’all, I was lucky enough to be in Savannah, Georgia last weekend basking in the glorious weather and all of the city’s Southern splendor. Seeing as I only had Saturday to enjoy the sites I tried to cover all of the typical ‘tourist basics’ in a very small amount of time. I passed a million little boutiques & galleries I would have loved to of had the time to stop in and enjoy. I hope to be going back in a few months so please leave suggestions for my next visit!
Driving down Abercorn on my arrival was magnificent. To me that drive exemplifies ‘Old South’ with all of the live oaks dripping in moss hovering overhead and the grand historical homes with their column-framed entries inviting you to have a seat and enjoy a glass of sweet tea. My college years were spent about an hour inland from Savannah and I have always been in awe of the city.
Of course we meandered through a few squares, strolled down River Street and then made our way back down Bay Street. The weather could not have been better for a day like this.
As we shopped downtown I was able to visit a few great boutiques, like The Paris Market. They are like a kindred spirit of Tracery’s- the perfect mix of old and new. So many inspirational vignettes throughout their space and millions of little trinkets I could have easily brought home.
DC2 Designs was another fun find. They seemed to take a little more of a ‘glam’ approach to the mixing of old & new. I loved the pinky coral wall above. Such a great color for a little girls room or maybe a small powder bath even? They also had a surprisingly fun selection of hats in the back and I ended up walking out with the one pictured below!
We hopped in & out of a few other shops, met the gentle giant of the ‘shop dog’ world and topped it all of with an amazing meal at Jazz’d Tapas Bar. Their Chocolate Torte is a must!
Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of Savannah through my trip. It made me so hungry for Spring with all of the sunshine and chirping birds! I sure hope Puxatony Phil was right…
I visited Savannah for the first time when I took mother down there to have lunch. The Paris Market and a few other stores were certainly my favorite.
