room with a view

When we  teamed up on this project with Dungan Nequette Architects, everyone agreed on one concept: the view comes first.  This home, located at The Retreat which is found along Scenic Highway 30A, is near our home base of Rosemary Beach.  It sits on a magnificent piece of land that overlooks a natural dune lake surrounded by lush local vegetation, white sandy dunes and the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico just beyond.

The space changes beautifully throughout the day as it reflects the sun.

The mostly neutral palette features accents of light blues and sea greens to pull the tranquil colors of the ocean inside.  There was no need for over the top draperies on this large bank of windows-why would you ever wish to cover that view?

This second story living space also features a beautifully finished pecky cypress ceiling by Jan Hale of Jan Hale Studios. She is so talented and even camouflaged pesky speaker faces located in the ceiling.   You will notice there was no need for an distracting vent cover either.  Paige & Bess were lucky to have an on-site general contractor, Dan, who was a genius with a rotary tool and carved the vents directly out of the pecky panels by hand.
