To not overlook Alabama as a travel destination. We’re always leaving town — leaving the state, really — on the weekends, and this year I want to stick around more to take advantage of Alabama’s natural wonders like Little River Canyon and unique small towns like Fair Hope and Eufaula.

My resolution for the New Year is to finish college. I am a 51 year old mother and grandmother. I have always wanted a college degree. I will hopefully graduate from Marymount University this coming year with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. Dreams can come true if you want them bad enough. I will do this in 2013!

2. Tell someone I love that I love them on a weekly basis. Via phone or in person. Not by text or email.
My resolution is to be more intentional with my family. Try to get my e-mailing and phone calls done while they are gone during the day and as soon as they walk in the door, focusing on them. Oh iPhone, you distract me so!

It’s always to get a little fitter and lighter.
In 2013, I resolve to update my two oldest daughters’ now empty bedrooms, as they have spread their wings and gone to college. Hopefully, as the third and fourth daughters follow big sisters’ steps, our home will continue to be a loving haven for sisters’ return visits, as we’ll as a warm and welcome place for guests.
